Why is the sky blue? – Explained with a simple animation

Why does the Sun look red at sunset?

When the sun is on the horizon at sunrise or sunset, the light must travel through much more air to reach your eyes than when the sun is higher up in the sky. Because the light has to travel through more air, the scattering effect is greater. Even less of the shorter wavelength light will reach your eyes so the sun appears redder.
